Project role and skills:
Ljeposava Ilijić, PhD, research associate, will share her expertise and theoretical and empirical experience in criminology and penology. Transfer of knowledge will include the phenomenon of prison deprivation of convicted persons and its connection with the success of imprisonment, social rehabilitation and reintegration and renunciation of crime, and the impact of educational treatment on reducing the risk of recidivism. All of the above is related, directly or indirectly, to the quality of prison life and essential for an overall understanding of the prison context.
As a member of the project team and a long-term expert in criminology and penology, Ljeposava has the leading role in the theoretical-empirical analysis and assessment of possibilities for improving quality of prison life from the criminological-penological, psychological, sociological, legal and security aspects, followed by development of empirically and theoretically based policy recommendation. In addition, Ljeposava is involved in the cultural adaptation and development of the MQPL in Serbian and the evaluation of its psychometric properties, especially in testing its content validity. Within the exploratory and comparative study of the PrisonLIFE project, Ljeposava leads an evaluation of the quality of prison life concerning sociodemographic, criminological and penological characteristics of convicts. Ljeposava leads various outreach and project promotion activities, and also awareness-raising activities on the complexity of prison life and its importance for the successful execution of prison sentences.
