Project role and skills:
Olivera Pavićević, PhD, research associate, is in charge of analyzing and understanding the quality of prison life from a broader sociological perspective, primarily cultural criminology, social pathology, therapeutic jurisprudence, well-being and resilience, which is all crucial for the PrisonLIFE project success. Creating and implementing a scientific theory on the relationship between moral and social climate and personal transformation and well-being of convicts, especially in terms of position, perspective and multiple marginalizations of female convicts, give additional innovation to this project.
As a long-term experienced sociologist and scientist with high competence for the theoretical concept of the PrisonLIFE project, Olivera leads an exploratory and comparative study of the quality of prison life in prisons in Serbia, which will be conducted during the project. In particular, she will lead the research on the overall quality of prison life in Serbia and on the association between the quality of prison life and subjective well-being. Within the theoretical-empirical analysis, assessment of possibilities for improving the quality of prison life in Serbia and development of empirically and theoretically based policy recommendations, Olivera will focus on examining the quality of prison life of both the general and female prison population. She leads various activities dedicated to the project results dissemination.
