Project role and skills:

Sanja Ćopić, PhD, senior research associate, will make a strong contribution with her theoretical knowledge and previous experience in the implementation of empirical, especially action-oriented research focused on the position and respect for human rights of women serving prison sentences. Her expertise in the field of victimology, gender equality and discrimination, violence against women and the relationship between victimization and criminalization of women is particularly significant. She is the most experienced in developing evidence-based recommendations for responsive policy and interventions.

As a member of the project team and an excellent scientist with many years of experience, including contact with the scientific, professional and general public, Sanja will lead the communication, dissemination and exploitation of the PrisonLIFE project outcomes. The planned activities include spreading information about the project outcomes, making recommendations resulting from the explanatory meeting with interested parties to facilitate the actual and practical application of already adopted standards from international and European levels and the public awareness-raising activities focused on the complexity of prison life and its role for the success of the execution of a prison sentence. Furthermore, Sanja is included in the evaluation of the possibilities for improving the quality of prison life of both the general and female prison population and coordinates an explanatory meeting with interested parties and relevant stakeholders and policymakers.
